SPRING AWAKENINGS - Fresh Greens

This is my favourite beech tree in the whole of Pod's Wood.
These are silver birch leaves in Pod's Wood

Below is a brand new cone on my nextdoor neighbours wee fir tree. It is about 2" long

Did I ever tell you I have a new macro lens. It is 105mm and a Nikon. I used to have a Sigma 50mm but had to get so close to things and also I didn't like having a different thread to the end of the lens as it meant leaving camera without a lens on for longer when changing so I went for the more expensive Nikon mostly for that reason. However I didn't research it enough as I hadn't realised how big and heavy the new lens would be. It does also have vibration reduction. It is a stonking great thing and I took all these three pics with it. So it is also good not just for macros. I love it but it is heavy.

i love macro photography. Now can you tell me why its call Pod's woods? I will have to send you photos of my great fir trees along my property line... the birds love them for nesting and hiding and cover. great light... I have decided to take my macro with me to yosemite..... its a 60mm. so the 105 is heavy?? who'd a thought!

No idea about Pod's wood I'm afraid. The legend has not been told locally for a long time I guess. Yes we need to see your fir trees - it all helps to get an idea of your surroundings. I would say your macro is a must for Yosemite. I forget when you are going but pretty sure it is in the spring so there will be some wonderful flowers. I shall have to take a shot of my lens to show you!

WOW! Great new macro! Nice color, clarity and detail! I do think you did mention it once. But not linked to specific pictures. Nice.

That first one is painterly and very beautiful! (They are all nice, in different ways.)
