Working the Subject: Lenten Roses

Lenten Roses, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. Bryan with a Y Peterson defines working the subject as experimenting and trying different POVs, filters and effects and not being satisfied with the first "easy" shot. Lenten Roses (at least mine) are not easy to photograph well, as the flowers tend to be low to the ground and point downward. I took "zillion" shots of these and then I ortonized this one digitally on Picasa and then I made a sepia version and sandwiched it back with the original to get this. Oh, I prolly should include the original so you can see what I have done, and even a shot of the Lenten Roses to show how they face downward. OK, I will add those later. Here they are.

Flower Photo Monday: The Peony Tulips

Funny that none of us have posted to the flower theme! I have SO MANY
FLOWER Photos! That's just the problem though.

I decided to post this, not because it's my best flower photo, it's
not, but I like it anyway and it's cheery. It's funny how these
tulips remind me of peonies! And it is right in our backyard. As
soon as I have time, I will try to find some other ones that might be
closer to being really outstanding, I hope.

I do so love flowers and spring, but have been terrifically busy! Phew!

new right angle viewer with my macro lens.

For my birthday, I got a new 90 degree viewer useful for viewing the undersides of flowers. I also got an 8 gig card for the camera.

Smudge Painting (with real paints): Tulips at the Village Market

My printer wasn't working right and the print came out bad so I
painted it with acrylics--right over the lousy print.
