the photo looked when I downloaded it from the camera--the flash
failed. The second was when I applied auto levels. The first is a
rapid smudging of the adjusted picture. I like it because it looks a

WOW I agree very painterly! What a wonderful expression! It looks so much better with your smudging. A lot more action and vitality to it.
It is amazing what a quick auto levels will do to what you thought was a ruined pic! You definitely chose the right blog to enter this.
I am not going to tick the email follow up comments this time and hope I will still receive it through the old method.
